Gimar Distribution’s Glyoxylic Acid 50H (INCI: Glyoxylic acid) is said to be ideal for hair straightening, softening and conditioning. According to Gimar, Glyoxylic Acid 50H enhances hair’s physical properties, visual appearance and sensorial feel. Due to its low molecular weight, it penetrates deeply into the cuticle layer, reaching the hair cortex and creating a bond with keratin. Its mode of action is based on an acidic mechanism that causes no permanent changes to hair structure, according to Gimar. It does not reduce disulfide bonds. Glyoxylic Acid 50H does exert a semi-permanent smoothing effect to all types of curly hair, which lasts approximately three months. Glyoxylic Acid 50H is formaldehyde- and methylene glycolic-free. It is compatible with other cosmetic raw materials, and has minimal content of glyoxal (0.05%).
